Ultimate Coordinator Chapter 25

Contest Arena

"Hello everyone and welcome to the first match of the third round. To my left is Dawn from Twinleaf Town, and to my right is Geosenge Town's Frank!"

Marian proceeded to spin the wheel in a clockwise motion. "This match will be a Single Battle. So let's begin!"

Dawn proceeded to start the match by reaching into her pocket and pulling out a Pokeball. "Typhlosion, let's go!" She then threw the ball into the air as her Pokémon appeared in the arena.

After Typhlosion appeared, Frank pulled out a Cherish Ball from his jacket and was smirking. "Zeus, I summon you!" Frank then pressed the button in the middle of the Cherish Ball and his Pokémon appeared in the arena, which looked like a Shiny Raichu with a small scar on his chin.

When both Pokémon appeared, the wheel was replaced with a 5 minute timer and the match began.

Dawn started the match off by issuing the first command to her Typhlosion. "Typhlosion, use Double Team." Typhlosion then proceeded to make enough clones to prevent Raichu from escaping with the exception of jumping.

"Zeus, use Nasty Plot." Raichu nodded his head and used Nasty Plot, raising his Special Attack stat by 2 stages.

"Typhlosion, use Gyro Ball!" Typhlosion and the clones then proceeded to charge at Raichu with Gyro Balls in each of their hands. But Frank didn't appear to be worried as he began to grin.

"Zeus, use Counter!" Raichu then began to smirk as he prepared his attack.

When the Typhlosions collided with Raichu, Raichu was dodging all of their attacks with his fast speed and hitting the Typhlosion's with Counter after dodging each attack. As Dawn's point total decreased, Raichu continued using Counter until all of the clones were knocked out and the real Typhlosion was hit by Counter.

As Typhlosion got back up, Dawn issued her next command. "Typhlosion, use Earthquake!"

But before Typhlosion could attack Raichu with Earthquake, Frank had a counter for it set up. "Zeus, jump into the air and use Rain Dance!"

When Typhlosion used Earthquake, Raichu managed to avoid the attack just in time by using his tail to jump into the air. Raichu then proceeded to use Rain Dance, weakening Typhlosion's fire attacks.

As the rain began to pour, Dawn's point total decreased once again, but this time Frank's point total also took a decrease since he took a bit of damage from Earthquake.

As Frank thought of his next plan of action, Dawn was beginning to worry. I never expected him to use a Raichu, now my Typhlosion is getting weaker. If I am going to win this contest, I have to think fast. "Typhlosion, it's time for your Trump Card!" Typhlosion nodded his head and began using Double Team to create 20 clones of Typhlosion, which left Frank confused. What is she planning?

After Frank finished pondering, the Typhlosion clones got into a Pyramid position as the main Typhlosion jumped to the top of the Pyramid and prepared his next attack. "Now Typhlosion, Eruption!" The main Typhlosion then shouted as the flames on his neck began to heat up and shoot volcanic-like rocks at the Electric Mouse. "This heat should be strong enough to destroy the rain clouds your Raichu created, it's over Frank!"

But as the rocks were about to hit Raichu, Frank issued his next command. "Zeus, use your legendary power and use Thunderbolt!" The Raichu then let out his cry and jumped into the clouds to launch his Thunderbolt attack. After a few seconds of silence, Raichu fired its Thunderbolt attack at Typhlosion, but instead of one thunderbolt, it was hundreds of smaller thunderbolts colliding with the rocks, creating a spectacle of lights for the audience to view.

The attacks seemed to be even with neither side taking any damage. "Keep it up Typhlosion!"

"Zeus, give it your all!"

Both Pokemon continued their attacks, but it was becoming clear that neither side was letting up as both, destroyed rocks and dead thunderbolts assaulted the arena, damaging both Coordinators in the process as Frank got hit by a couple of the dead thunderbolts across his face and Dawn got hit by a few of the rocks. But despite their wounds, neither Coordinator seemed to be giving up as they began to smirk. "You think a few injuries are going to make me give up Frank? Think again!"

Frank also smirked. "Likewise." He then took off his singed jacket and cracked his knuckles. "Bring it!"

Raichu increased the amounts of Thunderbolts he was using to 200 and launched them at a faster speed than he was doing before. But Typhlosion also increased the heat on its back by a hundred more degrees while also shooting off more rocks to combat the increased Thunderbolts.

However, with the increase of heat and thunderbolts, it was creating a hurricane in the arena. As winds began to batter the two Coordinators, both of their Pokémon also began to feel the effects of the hurricane as they were getting hit by not only the wind, but the debris of their attacks. As Raichu got hit by the winds and rocks, Typhlosion and the pyramid was getting hit by the winds and electricity, causing the pyramid to lose its balance and the main Typhlosion to fall off the pyramid. As Raichu charged at the main Typhlosion to finish it off however… "Typhlosion, use Gyro Ball!"

The main Typhlosion charged at Raichu with a Gyro Ball in hand, but before the two collided Raichu was hit in the back by one of the clone Typhlosion's Gyro Ball. As Raichu winced in pain from the attack as the clone disappeared, Raichu launched his Thunderbolt attack at the real Typhlosion as Raichu got hit by the real Typhlosion's Gyro Ball, sending them both flying into a wall.

As the hurricane stopped because of Rain Dance dissipating, Marian stopped the match. "Time!"

As both Coordinators looked to the TV screen, Marian announced the winner. "This match was very hectic, but with a 5 point difference. The winner is Dawn!"

The crowd roared with applause as both Coordinators went to return their Pokémon.

After Frank put his jacket back on, he noticed that his Raichu had a sad look on his face and went over to his Pokémon. "You did a great job Zeus." Frank then rubbed Raichu's head, which made Raichu smile before returning him to his Pokeball.

Dawn went over to her Typhlosion and returned him to his Pokeball before going over to Frank for a handshake. "Great job Frank."

Frank smirked and accepted Dawn's handshake. "Thanks Dawn, good luck in the semi-finals." After the handshake, Frank walked out of the arena as Dawn returned to the waiting room.

Waiting Room

When Dawn returned to the waiting room, she was greeted by May. "Great job Dawn."

Dawn then smiled in response. "Thanks May."

But before the conversation could continue, the TV screen displayed the next match against Drew and Zoey.
